This section will cover common terms that you will run across in Spellbound: Chaos Divided!
Refers to damage dealt from battling.
The act of putting a set number of cards from the top of your library into your graveyard.
Referring to how a card is used on the battlefield. (Ex. Creature, Hex, Charm, Item)
Referring to anything that isn't on your team, whether that be another player, bounder, creature, etc. (Fun Fact: "Opponent" is a word which refers to the exact same thing as "Enemy Player!")
An effect that affects creatures. Creatures with fatigue can't be used (Battling, activated abilities, soul abilities.) Creatures gain fatigue the first turn they are cast. On their owner's next caretake, they lose fatigue.
The act of turning a card 90 degrees to indicate that it cannot be used.
Referring to anything that is on your team, whether that be another player, bounder, creature, etc.
A pile where cards go once they have been used, destroyed, killed, cracked, or die.
A group of cards that you hold and don't reveal to anyone, and cast cards from.
Refers to damage dealt by hexes and abilities.
A pile from which you draw cards, either the opening hand at the beginning of the game, during your D&G (Draw and Gain) phase, or because of an effect of a spell or ability. Cards drawn are put into a player's hand, from which they can be played.
When a creature has more than it's base health.
The act of putting the hand you just drew back into your library, reshuffling your library and drawing X new cards where X is the number of cards you had in your previous hand minus one. (Note: You may only rekick when you draw your hand at the start of the game. You may rekick then as much as you'd like down to one card.)
The act of showing a card to your opponents.
Currency used to cast spells from your hand.
An ability that activates after paying a stated soul cost.
A general name for most cards. (Creatures, Hexes, Items, Converts, Charms, Blessings, and Auras.)
An ability that is constantly active. (Ex. "Creatures you control have a +10 damage modifier.")
Refers to the specific type of division in a division. (Ex. Charm - Creature, Creature - Skeleton, Item - Equipment.)
The act of willingly losing the game. You can surrender at any time.
A word printed on some cards to describe something that the card would effect.
How cards are identified. Based off of their colour and corresponding symbol. (Death/Red, Life/Green, Ancient/Yellow, Space/Purple, Dream/Pink, Chaos/Black, Hollow/Gray, Convert/White)
The act of turning a flipped card back to 0 degrees to indicate that it may be used again.
The act of taking a card from the top of your library and putting it in your hand.
Curses are keywords printed in a cards description that gives it a special rule. Curses are used to compact the amount of text on a card.
Creatures with Angel will heal a stated amount of health whenever a friendly creature dies. {Ex. Angel(30)}
Creatures with Arial can target bounders regardless of how many creatures the bounder controls. (Fun Fact: Arial is a purposeful misspelling of the word "Aerial" as a reference to the font which was used in the first ever edition of Spellbound: Chaos Divided!)
Creatures with Avenge will deal a stated amount of damage to a target creature whenever a friendly creature dies. {Ex. Avenge(30)}
Creatures with Barrage may target two targets while battling.
Creatures with Cannibalistic destroy creatures of the same subdivision when dealing battle damage, regardless of how much battle damage is dealt.
Creatures with Chance have the opportunity to be sent back to their owner's hand directly after being destroyed if they pay a stated amount of souls.
Creatures with Coward will go back to their owner's hand after being dealt battle damage. Creatures that are given Coward by a spell or ability lose Coward upon being sent back to their owner's hand.
Creatures with Deadly will destroy target creatures they deal battle damage to regardless of the amount of battle damage dealt. The creature with Deadly then also is destroyed/killed/dies.
Spells with Fragile will be destroyed the moment they are used. (Ex. An item with Fragile will be destroyed the moment it's ability is activated once.)
Creatures with Friendless can battle friendly creatures.
Creatures with Gains will gain a stated damage modifier each time they deal battle damage. {Ex. Gains(10)}
Creatures with Handless can't have items equipped to them.
Spells with Immediate can be cast at any time.
Creatures with Invincible can't be dealt damage by any source.
Creatures with Junkie will have their health go back to their base health on their owner's cease phase. They also can't be overhealed.
Whenever any creature heals, creatures with Leech with heal an equal amount. (Note: If the creature with Leech heals, it will not cause itself to heal again.)
Spells with Lonesome can be the only spell that is cast during your turn if you choose to cast it.
Creatures with Multi can have three targets while battling.
Creatures with Necro don't take up a creature slot on the battlefield. They also don't have to be destroyed in order for your bounder to be damaged.
Creatures with Omnipotence can have an unlimited amount of items equipped to it.
Creatures with Pacifist can't battle.
When creatures with Pact are destroyed/killed due to battle damage, they will deal a stated amount of damage to the battling creature before being sent to the graveyard. {Ex. Pact(50)}
When a creature with Pierce deals battle damage to a creature, they do an equal amount of battle damage to the targeted creature's bounder.
Creatures with Deadly will destroy target creatures they deal battle damage to regardless of the amount of battle damage dealt.
Creatures with Shield can take battle damage for a friendly creature that is targeted by a battler. Considering the creature with Shield doesn't die from the battle damage, the creature with Shield will then flip.
Creatures with Slow can only attack every other turn. (Note: Like any other creature, creatures with Slow have fatigue the turn they are cast. They will be able to attack after fatigue goes away.)
Creatures with Speed can't have fatigue.
Creatures with Squishy can’t have items they’re holding be destroyed by spells or abilities.
Creatures with Suicidal can be sent to your graveyard on either of your casting phases by spending a stated amount of souls.
When a creature with Thorns is dealt battle damage, they will deal a stated amount of damage to the battling creature. (Note: If the creature with Thorns would die from the battle damage dealt to it, the Thorns ability still activates.)
Creatures with Uncursable can't have additional curses put on them.
Creatures with Undead can be cast from your graveyard by paying a stated amount of souls.
Creatures with Unloved can't heal or be healed.
Creatures with Vampiric will heal a stated amount of health each time the deal battle damage. {Ex. Vampiric(20)}
When creatures with Void a destroyed, exile them instead of sending them to the graveyard.
Creatures with Warden can't be the target of hexes or abilities. (Note: Static abilities still effect creatures with Warden.)
